Gili Trawangan
What to do in Gili Trawangan?
Gili Trawangan, the largest of the Gili Islands, is a tropical escape known for its white sandy beaches, crystal-clear waters, and vibrant energy. Whether you’re here to snorkel with sea turtles, watch the sunset over the ocean, or simply relax on the beach, Gili T has something for every traveler. In this guide, I’ll share where to stay, how to get there, how long to stay, and my favorite spots on the island.
Where to Stay in Gili Trawangan
I recommend staying near Sunset Beach, located on the quieter west side of the island. Here, you’ll wake up to peaceful mornings and end your day with breathtaking sunsets. It’s about a 30-minute walk from the main harbor, but trust me – it’s worth it. You’ll see horse carriages (known as cidomos) along the way, but I don’t recommend using them as the horses often aren’t treated well. Instead, enjoy the walk or rent a bicycle to explore the island.
How to Get to Gili Trawangan
Reaching Gili Trawangan is part of the adventure. You can take a ferry from Bali, the Nusa Islands, or Lombok. The boat ride from Bali or the Nusa Islands takes around 1.5 hours, while the journey from Lombok is a shorter trip of about 1 hour.
